Literacy Center Launched in Long Island Laundromats

More laundromat operators are adding children’s reading areas to their stores. Ralph Macchio is the latest to do so with 3 stores now installed with Read Play Learn centers. The grand unveiling of the literacy center in one of his Laundro Lux laundromats on Long Island, NY took place on December 10. Former president Bill Clinton of the Clinton Foundation headlined the event. Members of the LaundryCares Foundation and Coin Laundry Association’s board were present for the launch.

Other Eastern Funding Laundry Customers adding Literacy Centers to their Laundromats

Also in attendance were a number of other Eastern Funding customers who have installed literacy centers in their laundromats. Multi-store operators, the Lau family, Stephen Levine of Main Street Laundromat in Farmingdale and Alaa Elbanna of BubblesaReUs Laundromats in New Jersey were all on hand. These top operators know that their laundromats are important to the community and can function as centers of childhood learning.

Eastern Funding is a proud sponsor of the LaundryCares effort to introduce literacy initiatives into laundromats across the country.  To learn more about the initiative go to laundrycares.org or contact Brian Grell at 212-819-0469
